Why XHTML? revised

I have asked that question some time ago and came to the conclusion that it’s more a question of Why semantic ?.

In the meantime there was an article The case for XHTML over at The KuraFire Network explaining the benefits of XHTML.

I think that article sheds light form a different angle to the subject. It’s main point is – it seems to me – that XHTML is the future of Web-Standards. That it at least points in the right direction. Whereas HTML does not. Using XHTML shows the awareness for standards.

To sharpen that awareness it could be sensible to stick with XHTML.
