Meine gegenwärtige Entwicklungsumgebung sieht so aus, dass ich das bereits vorgestellte Screen nutze, um den Jetty-Server laufen zu lassen.

Mittels Tramp ändere ich in meinem lokal laufenden Emacs die Source-Dateien auf dem Server.

I use emacs, which might be thought of as a thermonuclear word processor. It was created by Richard Stallman; enough said. It is written in Lisp, which is the only computer language that is beautiful. It is colossal, and yet it only edits straight ASCII text files, which is to say, no fonts, no boldface, no underlining. In other words, the engineer-hours that, in the case of Microsoft Word, were devoted to features like mail merge, and the ability to embed feature-length motion pictures in corporate memoranda, were, in the case of emacs, focused with maniacal intensity on the deceptively simple-seeming problem of editing text. If you are a professional writer—i.e., if someone else is getting paid to worry about how your words are formatted and printed—emacs outshines all other editing software in approximately the same way that the noonday sun does the stars. It is not just bigger and brighter; it simply makes everything else vanish.

Gerade bin ich auf emacs-fu: undo auf das Paket UndoTree gestoßen.

Das normale – naja, als “normal” kann man es eigentlich nicht bezeichnen – Undo-System von Emacs ist schon sehr klasse. Weil’s nichts vergisst.

The other day I came upon the cool youtube-channel of emailataskcom that focuses on emacs, clojure and slime in a very nice (and fast pitched) way.

Ich bin ja ein absoluter Fan von AutoHotkey. Praktisch jede Kombination von Windows-Taste mit STRG/ALT/SHIFT und einem zusätzlichen Zeichen auf der Tastatur führt bei mir eine andere Aktion aus (meistens wird eine Anwendung – evtl. mit bestimmten Parametern – gestartet).

Ich war ein wenig nervös als ich nach der Lektüre einiger Texte (u.a. emacs 23 has been released!) zu den Features in Emacs 23 feststellte, dass ein Update – ich war auf Version 22.3 – angeraten war.
